Boda boda operators will now move to court to seek an order to lift the ban barring them to operate in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

Just a day after the county government of Nairobi imposed an order restricting bodaboda business in the city’s CBD Boda boda operators have vowed not to stoop to the directive which they say is unfair.

Boda boda riders have vowed to go to court to challenge an order by the county government banning them from operating in the CBD.

Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting convened by boda-boda stakeholders, the chairman of the national association of boda-boda safety Mohammed Shindiye said admitted to some of the boda-boda operators being crooked but not all. According to the chairman, that was not a reason enough to halt the business in the CBD.

“We accept that there might be a few criminals in our midst but that does not warrant the contamination of the whole association,” said the chair.

“We are going to court to stop the orders,” he added.

The Director of Operations at the City Inspectorate Department, Peter Mbaya, on Monday, declared that on Tuesday 23rd henceforth no boda-boda will be allowed t operate from the city’s CBD citing criminal activities.
