Bodaboda operators in Nairobi have threatened to go to court in opposition of the directive imposed by the Nairobi County Government barring them from accessing the Central Business District-CBD.
The operators argue that the ban is disruptive to their business which they rely on to earn a living.
Led by Boda Boda Association of Kenya Patron, Mohamed Shidiye, the operators accused the county government of rushing to impose the ban without consultations.
Shidiye observed that genuine bodaboda operators were not involved in crime within the city and that it was upon the security agencies to find an alternative way of curtailing criminal activities within the CBD.
In the meantime, a section of operators are instead asking the county government to create specific designated places within the CBD for them to operate from. They say that a complete ban could disrupt their businesses hence leading to unemployment.
The Nairobi county government in a gazette notice effected the ban on Tuesday following the public outcry over criminal activities in the Central Business District.
