The warning was issued by leaders of the operators in Athi River town on Thursday.

They moved  riding from one boda boda stage to another issueing the warnings as, "messengers of road safety."

"We are going round Athi River cautioning our fellow boda boda operators against road misconduct," Fred Mwangangi said.

Mwangangi spoke to this writer at Nyambura Stage on Thursday.

They warned the riders against allowing passengers and children to ride their motorcycles.

"No boda boda operator should allow passengers, children, among other unqualified residents to ride their motorbikes, they should all ensure road safety. That is the message we are conveying to our colleagues," Mwangangi said.

Another operator William Mutuku, also involved in the sensitization initiative said most of the road accidents in Athi River especially along Mombasa Road are caused by boda boda operators.

Mutuku said the safety initiative will help bring down the road carnage.
