The riders said their business is being ruined by rogue officers who arrest them when they fail to give them bribes.
The riders led by Kisii boda-boda Association official Jasper Maina on Thursday speaking in Kisii town said they will take the law into their hands if police will not stop harassing and intimidating them.
"We have rights to operate our business because we have met all road requirements. Riders pay Sh300 revenue monthly to the county. Police officers should stop unnecessary arrests with effect," said Maina.
He asked Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi to organise for a meeting with boda-boda riders to solve police and riders wrangles.
"We are not ready to engage the police officers in riots. Kigochi should call for an agent meeting with boda-boda riders' officials in the county to end the differences that have emerged," he noted.
He said police officers who have stayed for long in the county should be transferred to bring sanity in the security sector.
