The Chairman of Bodaboda and Taxis Association North Rift region Richard Mukhobero has lauded the initiative by the county commissioner to ban motorcycles operating past 11 pm, terming it as 'on point'.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, he said that there has been increased cases of insecurity, where bodaboda operators are attacked and robbed of their motorcycles by people who purport to be their customers.
"In the past one month, I have received more than twenty cases of motorcyclists being attacked and their motorcycles taken from around 8 pm to 12 am with smartly dressed individuals whom one may think are normal customers," said Mukhobero.
He urged bodaboda and taxis operators to ensure that they are conversant with the people they carry, such as their names and where they are heading to.
"I have also received reports that there are bodaboda and taxis that collude with gangsters to commit crimes. I give such individuals a stern warning that they will be arrested and prosecuted with immediate effect since they are a threat to the security of the law abiding Uasin Gishu residents, and definitely their driving licences will be cancelled," he added.
