A middle-aged bodaboda operator in Gilgil sub-county was on Tuesday evening pronounced dead, after he was hit by a speeding car a few kilometers from Kikopey shopping centre.
His passenger sustained serious injuries, and was admitted at Gilgil Sub-county Hospital for treatment.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, John Mahiyo, both the motorcycle and the car were heading to Nakuru at around 6pm, when the accident occurred.
Mahiyo said the Lorry, which was carrying timber hit the man from behind, and he died few minutes after arriving at the hospital
“Both the truck and the motorbike were heading to Nakuru, the rider was at middle of the road, so I think the lorry was at higher speed than the bike hence it got the Motorbike,” said Mahiyo.
The driver of the truck was unable to talk to journalists, as he was very much in shock about the incident.
Area traffic boss Francis Muli urged road users, especially boda bodas to be vigilant while using the road, advising them to observe traffic rules to curb accidents
"You should be vigilant while using the road and observe traffic rules to avoid such accidents,” said Muli.
