A boda boda operator Thursday night strangled his lover before ending his own life in a suicide mission.
23-year-old Samson Obwocha hanged himself just moments after killing his lover Vennah Kemunto, a second-year student pursuing Bachelor's degree (Education) at Kisii University.
Obwocha hails from Nyamage village, just less than 100 metres from the university.
"Mum, dad, brothers and sisters, I killed her and myself because I loved her with all my heart but she just made me do it. I am sorry. Bye Bye. Mum I love you," said Obwocha in a suicide note left in his lover's room.
He is said to have played loud music throughout the night so as to conceal the murder.
However, Vennah's friends who were curious went to check on her on Friday morning and were the first to come face to face with her body neatly covered in bed.
Obwocha's father told police that his son left home on Thursday evening although his phone was not going through.
"When I heard the news, I crossed over to the hostels to confirm the deaths only to see the body of my son hanging in the house. I did not know he was in a relationship with the girl," he said.
Obwocha was set to join university in September after he completed secondary education last year.
