Boda boda motorcyclists in Mlolongo town, Machakos County, have been advised to form registered groups through which they can access business loans to boost their socio-economic status.

  Chairman of the Syokimau Motorcyclists Association, Ambrose Okundi, noted that through such groups, they could acquire loans and engage in viable economic ventures which could uplift their living standards.   Okundi added that through such self help groups, they ould grow and come up with Savings and Cooperative societies which would enable them have their own motorcycles instead of relying on other people’s motorcycles.   The Chairman who spoke to hivisasa reporter in Mlolongo yesterday, regretted that there were some of those groups which were formed but had since collapsed, adding that those ones should also be revived in readiness for the opportunities that might arise with the increased government initiatives.   He appealed to Mavoko MP, Patrick Makau to assist them get licenses for the motorcycles riding trainings that they had undertaken, courtesy of certain non governmental organization they declined to mention for personal reasons.
