This comes after a group purporting to be in control of the operators pitted itself against the registered Kisii Town Motorcyclists Sacco where the two groups clashed over the over issuance of stickers by the county government on their operations in the current financial year.

According to members who spoke to the media on Thursday at Kisii town led by their president Gisore Orechi they were invited by a senior county government officer for a meeting only to be attacked by an unknown group who also confiscated their motorcycles.

The group has also called on the police and county government to assist them to recover their motorcycles.

On the other hand the chairman of the operators’ Sacco, Mike Mose dismissed the group’s claims saying they had gone to ask them why they were organising parallel meetings against their society’s constitution.

Incidentally, the disgruntled group who were reportedly urging their members to boycott payment of taxes are also members of the Sacco.

Mose defended the Sacco against assaulting or robbing them off their motorbikes claiming they invited them for a stakeholders’ dialogue which they complied.

He said the meeting ended up in disarray with the group abandoning their motorcycles which have since been handed over to the area police.

Kisii county Police Commander, Agnes Mudambi, said her office was aware of the incident and advised the aggrieved parties to record statements with the police assuring them of prompt action.

She, however, warned the groups against being used to break the law as they will be held individually responsible
