The operators held a protest on Thursday, where they drove through Gitaru, Kanjeru and back to Zambezi, complaining of the unfair distribution of resources in the sub-county.

“We do not understand why the operators on the other side of the highway of vehicles heading to Nakuru have a shed while we do not,” said Peter Maina, one of the operators.

Maina said they were operating under the same government and expected to be treated equally, putting their area county assembly representative, Mutonya Njenga to task for failure in ensuring equal distribution of resources.

“We ask our MCA, Mutonya to advocate for our rights. We know this side of Zambezi is known for farming and does not have a high turnover of money like the other side with tens of businesses and rental houses. However, this is no reason to discriminate us,” said Waweru Kamau.

Waweru added that they were watching the conduct of the county government to know who they would elect in the next government and who to leave out.
