Arashi Location Chief Samuel Njuguna has expressed concern over the high rate of school dropout cases among girls due to pregnancy.
Speaking at Arashi Shopping Centre in Subukia Ward on Friday, Njuguna said that bodaboda operators are to blame for the menace.
He blamed said, “Bodaboda operators are behind these ills. This should stop to allow our girls to continue with school.”
"Girls are given free rides and eventually fall victims to the bodaboda operators,” he added.
Njuguna noted that the dropout rate has affected performance of most schools in the area.
“Performance among girls in Arashi has dropped due to pregnancy. I urge all stakeholders in education to correct this situation," said Njuguna.
He warned bodaboda operators that the provincial administration would not just sit and watch them spoil girls.
“Any bodaboda operator who will be responsible for impregnating a school girl will be dealt with in accordance with the law," said Njuguna.
The administrator also urged parents to take their parental roles seriously.
“Parents should spend time with their girls and monitor their movements to avoid them falling for sex predators," said Njuguna.
The meeting was convened following an outcry from several parents that their daughters have been impregnated by bodaboda operators.
Njuguna further urged students to increase their efforts in their studies and keep off love affairs.
