Bodaboda operators in Nakuru town will soon have their own special lane to ease traffic and congestions in the CBD.
Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria says that the provision of the special lane will reduce the congestion, traffic jam in the CBD as well as reduce the number of accidents in town.
"All the bodaboda operators will use the lane without interference by vehicles. The county government of Nakuru will start the construction of the lanes as early as January,” said Kuria.
Speaking in Nakuru town, Kuria said that the number of accidents involving bodaboda operators and cars within the CBD was worrying and certain preventive measures had to be taken.
Kuria urged the bodaboda operators to abide by the traffic rules and to also ensure that they have motorcycle riding licences.
"Let us stop accidents in this town. Let us get the necessary training and also follow the traffic rules so we can reduce unnecessary accidents," added Kuria.
Kuria further said that the main market in the town had been completed and was ready for use by hawkers who would be soon required to move there.
On the hawkers’ issue, Kuria added, “The process of moving all the traders and hawkers to the main market will start next week,”
Hawkers have been protesting against the move claiming the relocation will make them lose business since most of their customers are usually available within the Nakuru CBD.
