Mwala sub-county police boss Henry Kimathi has urged bodaboda operators from the region to form saccos and join the cooperative movement in a bid to uplift their businesses.
Kimathi said saccos have positively transformed most residents lives and therefore bodaboda operators should not be left behind.
"Every bodaboda operator should be registered with a Sacco. It's very important since it will improve your living standards," Kimathi said.
Kimathi addressed the operators in Mwala on Tuesday.
He said bodaboda operators is a good tool of promoting national unity, peace love and prosperity.
Kimathi said the operators who have no license and insurance should move with haste and acquire them.
He said the law is very clear on traffic rules and anyone flouting them will face the full force of law.
"If you get arrested without license, insurance or reflector jacket and helmet, no excuse will get you off the hook. You will be prosecuted, so follow the law and be on the safe side," Kimathi said.
He urged the bodaboda operators to work closely with the police to ensure security and desist from giving bribes in their course of work.
Kimathi's sentiments were echoed by Mwala sub county bodaboda chairman Andrew Mwanzia who urged the operators to respect school going children and avoid having sexual relationships with them.
"Many defilement cases reportedly involve bodaboda operators, desist from having sexual relationships with these children and you will be on the safe side of the law," Mutisya said.
