Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has urged bodaboda operators in Kuresoi south to work with the police to tame crime.
Addressing boda boda operators at Kiptegich trading centre on Wednesday, Mbugua said they are the people who interact daily with locals and might have information on the whereabouts of criminals.
He asked them to partner with the police in order to restore security and deal with criminals allegedly causing havoc in the sub-county.
The county boss at the same time challenged the operators to take the initiative and champion for peace and security.
Mbugua said that peace and security is a responsibility, which should be embraced by each and every citizen.
“My appeal is to bodaboda operators to work with law enforcers in a bid to unravel rising crime in this area,” said Mbugua.
The former Administration police commandant at the same time challenged the operators to apply for loans in order to better their businesses.
He said that the county government has set aside enough resources meant to empower and improve the lives of the people especially young people.
He lauded various youth groups in the area who have embraced employment creation instead of waiting for whitecollar jobs.
“I want to salute young people who have seen the need of creating jobs for others,” noted Mbugua.
The governor assured them of the county support adding that they should venture into all sectors.
Mbugua said that various programmes including training of youths have been launched which he said will help to mentor and direct young people on business ventures.
