Thika Township administrator Jessica Mukundi has given a stern warning to boda boda operators who operate near Thika Arcade matatu stage for what she termed as unwanted public behaviour.
Mukundi speaking in her office on Tuesday, said that the operators have turned the roundabout along Kwame Nkuruma and Commercial streets into a night urinal leading the place to stink of urine especially when the sun is hot.
"This is a very bad behaviour that we are not going to tolerate any longer. I am warning the boda boda riders who operate late into the night near the Thika Arcade that we will solely hold them responsible if the behaviour goes on. If they are not the ones who urinate on those cubicles at the base of the town clock then they should be able to tell us who is responsible," said Mukundi.
However, the operators have come out gun blazing daring the administrator to harass them over the incidence.
"The fact that some of our members operate near the roundabout where the administrator is complaining about does not make them culpable. Street kids and drunkards have for many times been spotted at the place urinating and those are the people the administrator should deal with. We are there for business not to look after those urinating on the streets at night," Johana Kimani, Thika Boda Boda Association Chairman said.
