A boda boda operator was on Thursday charged before the Maseno Law Court for a assaulting a fellow operator over a passenger.
Maurice Ogilla pleaded guilty to the charges before Maseno Resident Magistrate Philip Oilo for the offence he committed on the 28th of March in Maseno.
Mr Ogilla pleaded for leniency before Mr Oilo for his actions that led to hospitalization of Martin Kariuki.
"Your honour, what I did was wrong, I have realized following the consequences of my actions. Am deeply sorry and I ask this honourable court to forgive me and allow me to make amends for my terrible actions," said Ogilla.
According to the prosecution the two boda boda operators got into a confrontation after a customer who had earlier chose Ogilla opted to ride with Kariuki.
From the confrontation, Mr Karuiki ended up with severe back and limb injuries that led to his hospitalization.
The court heard that, Ogilla had agreed to transport a customer to Chulaimbo market from Maseno but arrived late only to find her on board the motorbike owned by Kariuki.
The client at the center of the tussle is said to have sustained minor injuries as she fell from the motorbike when Ogilla was confronting Kariuki.
Ogilla was fined Sh20,000 for the offence and released.
