A motorcycle rider in Nakuru is being sought by police over hospital fee fraud accusations.
A medical superintendent at the Nakuru County General Hospital Dr Winny Momanyi told this writer at the hospital on Friday that the accused, Jonathan Ouma, had accumulated an amount of Sh 30, 000 before he escaped from the hospital a week ago.
He said the accused had been admitted at the hospital after he sustained serious injuries from a road accident a month ago. He said colleagues of the accused who had been refereed in the occurrence book were contacted and were helping police to arrest the runaway patient.
According to the hospital chief, such cases were on the rise at the hospital and security personnel and some medical staff were being investigated in connection with the cases.
One of the referees of the runaway patient, Boniface Muliro who is a bodaboda rider told this writer at the hospital that he was called to appear at the hospital in connection with the disappearance of his colleague.
"I know where he lives but I have not seen him since I last saw him here. I suspect he might have gone out of the town but I am willing to help the hospital," said Muliro.
The suspect's mobile phone number has allegedly been switched off.
