Police officers in Eldoret town are hunting for a boda-boda rider who allegedly raped a minor to death on Sunday.
The incident happened in Langas area within Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
According to the minor’s mother Esther Chepkorir, she had left her daughter alone at their house and went to a shop when the incident happened.
“I had gone to the shop to buy a soup and left my daughter at home alone. I was shocked when I returned home only to find the rider in bed raping my daughter,” she said.
Mrs. Chepkorir stated that she immediately raised an alarm that attracted neighbors but the suspect fled before the neighbors could arrive.
“The suspect attacked me when I tried to block him from leaving the house so that the neighbors can catch up with them. The neighbors arrived and on checking my daughter on the bed we found her dead and her private parts damaged,” she noted.
Area OCPD Wilson Abduba confirmed the incident and said the suspect believed to be a boda-boda is being trailed.
Abduba urged members of the public to cooperate and help police officers to arrest the suspect.
He said minor’s body was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
