The man from Ikhula village in Mudembi, Budalang'i resolved to sell the kidney after failing to raise tuition for the son.

The boy is expected to join Kolanya Boys High School in Teso North sub-county.

Felix Juma Omanyo, 46, said his son, Eric Onyango, 16, failed to secure a scholarship with Equity Bank's Wings to Fly education project.

Equity Bank staff had visited Mr Omanyo to know if the boy qualifies for the scholarship.

Onyango sat the 2016 KCPE at Sibuka Primary School and scored 351 marks, not enough to enable him qualify for the Bank's scheme.

The pupil said he wanted to become a surgeon.

"I am very grateful to my dad for resolving to sell one of his kidneys to raise the required fees,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Onyang'o is expected to raise Sh53,000 to join Form One.
