Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Muthamia said that the sellers are using bodaboda riders to smuggle the alcohol to their customers.

He said that they have arrested a number of bodaboda cyclists with the banned adulterated drinks who have in turn directed them to beverage shops.

"We have noted that some sellers of beverages in and around Thika Town have taken over the sale of illicit brews and are doing it secretly through bodaboda riders," said Muthamia.

He added: "I would like to warn them to immediately stop that business because it will cost them heavily. Let them stick to their line of business or regret the consequences."

Muthamia also warned the bodaboda riders against being used by the said rogue businessmen saying that the law will also not spare them.

"We know all those who are involved in this business and it is just a matter of time before we strike. Let them be warned", he added.
