Kamenu MCA Chege Waithumbi has said that the government has intensified the fight against rising theft in Kiganjo Makongeni area.
The MCA was speaking in Kiganjo during bodaboda demonstrations held on Thursday against Makongeni police whom they claimed have been harassing them with no genuine reasons.He has however praised the residents who have been keen on community policing and maintaining peace.“Residents have been providing information to the OCPD and other administrators who in turn instructs his officers to rush to the ground and attend to the reported cases. This has helped many people who would otherwise have been robbed of their property. We apologise for the hitches bodaboda riders have experienced and this will come to an end immediately,” he said.The residents have also expressed their dissatisfaction with how the police have been handling the matters when reported to them.“We don't appreciate the cooperation that exists between us and the police especially after the new security personnel were posted here. We have seen a big difference,” Karigu, a shopkeeper said.Thika OCPD, Erastus Muthamia, has also promised bodaboda riders to take strict actions on errant officers.
