Kisii County commissioner Godfery Kigochi on Monday said riders who will be found holding outlawed protests will be arrested, prosecuted and banned from operating in the region.

He condemned a Sunday incident where bodaboda riders in Nyaribari Masaba protested and accused county revenue collectors of killing their colleague.

“We don’t want some people to taint the name of bodaboda riders by holding unnecessary protests in Kisii County. Those who are tired with operating motorbikes should go home and rest to avoid being at the wrong side of the law,” he said.

Kigochi said riders in Nyaribari Masaba who destroyed property at Riamichoki, Masimba, Kiamokama, Ichuni and Nyamasibi areas must be held accountable.

“Destruction of property is not allowed. Riders who destroyed property in the name of demonstrations against the death of their colleague must be ready to pay the owners failure to which they will be sent to jail,” said the county boss.

He urged boda boda riders’ association officials to ensure anyone who causes mayhem is arrested and prosecuted.
