County chief officer for Education Samuel Okuro who led the team to Kigali said the trip was purely educational and it was fruitful.

Okuro said the bodaboda industry in the foreign country is organized and it was prudent to take local cyclists to learn from their colleagues.

“Our cyclists learnt a lot and if they implement what they learnt then the sector will grow,” he said.

He said the main objective of the visit was to learn on the safety of the riders and their customers besides transforming the sector into a profitable venture.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Saturday upon their return, Okuro dispelled rumors that the county used huge amounts of money to organize the trip noting that it only costs Sh2.7 million.

He said the trip idea was the brainchild of the bodaboda cyclists and not a county proposal.

The county bodaboda transport association chairman Willis Ouma said they have learnt a lot and in return will share their experience with their colleagues who failed to join in the trip.

Ouma said the sector if well organized can create employment to jobless youth in the country.

“We will go round and teach how colleagues can best manage this sector,” he said.
