Three bodies were found near the house of a suspected serial killer, a day after blood stains had been spotted in his house, a Kisumu court heard on Wednesday afternoon.

Blood stained clothes belonging to a man with whom Harrison Okumu, the suspected killer, had come home were also found in a toilet in the same compound on July 30.

Pius Ochanjo, an uncle to Okumu told the court that a dismembered body of a man was found buried behind the accused’s house. Another body was found in a nearby dam and a third inside a well.

He said Okumu’s mother, Syprose Adhiambo, had told him that her daughter had reportedly been sent by Okumu to dump blood stained clothes in a toilet on July 29. This was the same day two other minors had reportedly found a body in the said dam, he said.

The body retrieved from the well, he said, was that of one Shem Onyango, the man Okumu is being accused of killing in the case.

The prosecutor told the court presided over by Lady Justice Esther Maina that the matter was not due for hearing on Wednesday and asked that it be adjourned.

The matter that was first heard on September 24 failed to pick up in earnest for the second time. The prosecutor said it was not due for hearing but because Ochanjo was in court, he testified.

Adhiambo’s testimony was discontinued by the prosecution counsel, Lazarus Sirtuy who asked for time to get further statements from witnesses when it was first heard.

Adhiambo had told the court that she had not known of son’s killer instincts before he was accused.

The case has roped in another man, one Ismael Odhiambo.

The matter will be heard again on December 4.
