The Gucha Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Richard Muguai confirmed the incident saying bodies of two children male and female of approximately two and five years were found drowned in River Gucha within Ogembo town.

While having an interview with Hivisasa.com today he said that his office was informed by the area chief Mr Robert Isoe of Boochi location who had also been informed by a member of the public who saw the bodies while crossing the river.

Administration police officers visited the scene and retrieved the bodies that were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

The OCPD further told Hivisasa.com that the remains of the two have not been identified yet and nobody has reported in their office of lost children and is thus appealed to members of the public to report any case where two children are missing.

He said he will help the government to trace the owner of the children and establish the cause of their death. However, there is a suspicion that the children were murdered and their bodies thrown in the Gucha river by the marks which they were bearing.

He is further appealing to parents to be vigilant and know the whereabouts of their children who are currently on holiday because they can decide to explore to life-threatening places if the parents are not around to caution them from adventuring to such places.
