Body of a 13-year-old pupil who drowned in a dam in Tala, Matungulu sub county, Machakos county was retrieved by the police on Wednesday morning.
The incident was confirmed by Matungulu assistant commissioner Margaret Thuo who said that the retrieval was a success after a joint effort from the police county rescue team, residents and the school administration.
It's alleged that the class six pupil in Nice view academy together with one of his friends sneaked from school in the evening hours on Tuesday and went swimming in the nearby dam.
The two of them drowned but one was saved as efforts to save the other proved futile.
