Confirming the incident on Tuesday, Likoni police boss Mr Willy Simba, who was accompanied by government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, led police officers in exhuming the body which was buried at Kinduguni area.

Mr Simba said that the 28-year-old mother, identified as Ms Diana Kwamboka, allegedly locked her husband and their daughter in a rented room at Shelly Beach before setting the house on fire.

It is reported that neighbours who heard a distress call from the husband broke into the house in a bid to rescue him but he later succumbed to burns at the Coast General Hospital.

According to police reports, Kwamboka rescued the daughter who had been badly burnt, but allegedly secretly buried her after she died to avoid suspicion.

Mr Simba said that Kwamboka will soon be arraigned in a court of law to answer to charges of committing murder.

The government pathologist said a post mortem will be conducted on the body to establish the possible cause of her untimely death.
