A body of a man, aged 23 years, was retrieved from Ura River in Nyambene in Kiambu on Sunday morning.
Kenya Red Cross divers helped in retrieving the body.
The man drowned in the raging river due to heavy rains that were experienced in the area.
Residents said the man could be drunk when he drowned.
“We suspect the man was drunk by the time he drowned as he tried to cross the river which flooded during the heavy rains,” said Stephen Mwangi, a resident.
A Kenya Red Cross official who requested for anonymity called on residents not to make any attempt to cross the river especially when they are drunk.
