Police in Kikuyu are investigating an incident where a body of a new born baby boy was found dumped in a bush at Acre Tano estate on Tuesday.
The body of the infant was discovered by children who playing wrapped in a plastic bag. Confirming the incident, Kikuyu OCS Joshua Arande said investigation have been launched into the matter.
He told reporters that the matter was reported to them by a group of residents who were alerted by some children.
“We are probing the matter to identify the person who dumped the infant,” he said. The OCS asked residents to provide information concerning the matter that will aid in investigation.
The OCS intimated that the body of the infant had a medical peg on the neck. Area chief Samuel Waitheka cautioned women against giving birth and abandoning their infants.
He said that legal action would be taken against anyone found doing the same. The chief urged elder women to give younger women advice and counsel noting that cases of abortion are rife in the area.
