The body of a man who was swept away by flood waters in Nakuru a week ago was on Saturday morning found in a drainage near Kisulisuli estate.
The body was stuck in muddy water.
Addressing media at the scene, Philip Ndeyi who led the search operation said they commenced the exercise on Friday to clear the bush in the area.
“We started yesterday clearing the bush and today we have gone deeper into the drainage before we spotted the body. We want to appeal to the government to ensure the drainage system is addressed,” he said.
The body was taken to Nakuru county mortuary by police.
According to residents, the man only identified as Manyara is said to have been swept by the flood water while on his way home around 7pm.
Residents want elected leaders to address the issue of drainage in the area.
“We have complained a lot about the issue of this drainage but all in vain so we just wondering why we elected our leaders. If the drainage was open, we wouldn't have such happenings," a resident said.
