After the body of a former Meru nurse went missing in mysterious circumstances in Nairobi August 21, it has finally been traced to Machakos mortuary.

Noah Katumo who is the Head of Special Crime Prevention Unit said police traced the body at the mortuary after receiving information from the public.

Sources at the mortuary said the body tagged as unknown was brought in by the police on August 22 having been found in Salama area, Makueni county.

The body reportedly had visible injuries on the neck and arms an indication of torture prior to his death.

Three police officers and a taxi driver have since been arrested in connection with his disappearance.
