According to citizentv.co.ke, the body was discovered by fishermen near a bush in the water where it had been trapped.

Oodi-Nyamanga Beach Management Unit chairman Jeckonia Adhanja said the boy was last seen with his father in a boat at the beach two days ago and suspect he slipped and drowned.

“We suspect that he slid while in the boat and drowned because we found boat paddles inside the water,” he said.

He advised parents against allowing their children to the beach to avert such incidents.

“Many parents in this area tend to allow their children to play with their boats at the beach. I would like to appeal to all guardians who own these boats to keep their children off the beach to avoid such devastating incidences,” he said.

His body was moved to St Camilus Hospital mortuary in Karungu.
