Farmers in Bogichora area have been warned of unregistered veterinary officers who are offering quick services in the area.

Reacting to a recent occurrence where a farmer lost four of his animals after alleged incorrect medication was administered to them by an officer over the weekend, a Nyamira-based veterinary officer, Charles Nyabaro said quack veterinarians were on the rise.

"There are several individuals masquerading as registered practitioners but in the real sense they have no idea about what they were doing," he warned.

Nyabaro added that quack veterinary officers have been conning farmers by selling to them fake animal breeds and also charging them high fees to carry out services that he says are even offered for free by veterinary officers deployed by the county government.

He said the Ministry of Agriculture at the county was aware of the problems farmers in the area are facing and says that some suspected quacks have already been arrested awaiting to be arraigned in court.
