Residents of Masiacho village,Giasaiga Sub-location in Sameta sub-county have decried incidents of vandalism targeting their water taps connected to the Igego-Eburi community water project line.
Speaking to this writer in the area after a community meeting on the management of the water project,the residents lamented that there were increasing cases of water taps vandalism in the area,leading to increasing mantainance and repair expenses on the consumers whose taps have been vandaled.
Hellen Kwamboka,a local residents links roaming children to the increasing incidents of water taps vandalism witnessed in the area.
Kwamboka challenges local parents to watch on their children's movements and wherabouts,especially this April holiday when majority of the childrten are idling inthe villages to ensure they do not interfer with their neighbours' water taps.
"Cases of water taps vandalism are reported mostly during this April holiday when majority of the children are out of school,roaming all over in the villages.Let every parent be responsible on the wherabouts of their children for us to reduce cases of water taps vandalism in the area,"stated Kwamboka
Hezekiah Ogega,the Chairman of the water project in the village warns parents whose children will be found vandalising water taps of heavy fines for the mantainance and repair of the affected taps.
"Let me sound a warning to all residents,especially parents in this village that if your child is found to have vandalised a water tap of your neighbour,prepare for a heavy penalty ,"warned Ogega.
