Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet has appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious persons or activity to the police for immediate action.
The IG asked hotel operators to thoroughly scrutinise their clients before admitting them.
He also appealed to public service vehicle operators to be on the lookout for passengers who do not fit profiles or regular clientèle.
Boinet said on Monday in a statement that its only through collaborative action that criminals can be kicked out of the country.
He at the same time thanked members of the public for supporting security agencies and giving tips to the police, leading to arrests of crime suspects and foiling of planned terror attacks.
He cited the unity demonstrated by Muslims in the Mandera bus attack last year as an indication that Kenyans are ready and willing to shun inter-religious conflicts.
Muslim passengers in the Mandera-bound bus declined to be separated from Christians by suspected Al Shabaab militia men who were plotting to kill the non-Muslims.
