The inspector general of police has said the multi billion Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project that is under construction has reported success due to intensified security.
Joseph Boinett said he is satisfied with the security among residents living in counties along the SGR path.
Boinett who spoke at China Road and Bridge Corporation's section nine site in Mavoko, Machakos County on Tuesday said the project contractor, CRBC had so far not reported any serious case of security threats to its workers during the construction process.
"I in my capacity as the inspector general of police, I am satisfied with the security among residents living along the path of Standard Gauge Railway. This is one of the reasons why the contractor has registered and reported the project's success," said Boinett.
Boinnett said that shows an indication that the China Community has good relationships with Kenyans across the country and especially in the seven counties where the railway passes.
The police boss who visited the site for an official visit urged all Kenyans, especially those living along the project line to keep cooperating with the contractor and the employees to ensure speedy conclusion and success of the project.
Boinett said the railway will be of great benefit to Kenyans once completed since it would lower costs of transportation of goods and people, alongside creating job opportunities to the locals hence need for the residents' support.
