Inspector general of police, Joseph Boinnet has denied allegations that he was involved in changing the names of police officers who will be promoted in the police service.
This is after Boinnet and NPS released a list of names that were contradicting.
The names of 53 police officers who are to be promoted are alleged to have been changed by Boinnet who has denied changing them.
Speaking on Sunday, Boinnet said that he was not involved in the changing of the names.
"My office was never involved to change the names. The names that were released was a direction from NPS and i had no powers to change the names. Those spreading rumors that i changed the names should stop since the allegations are false", he said.
He further defended police officers that they have never been involved in killings Kenyans as alleged.
"Police officers have been accused of killing people. But let me put it clear that the work of officers is to ensure that Kenyans are save in terms of security and not killing them. The allegations that officers are killing people are false and should stop, "he stated.
