[Photo| Citizen Tv]Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has dismissed reports by the Independent Medico Legal Unit (IMLU) that 36 people were killed by police deployed to quell election violence in some parts of the country.IMLU through a report released on Wednesday indicated that more than 36 Kenyans were killed by police since August 11 just after the declaration of the August 8 presidential results.Boinnet through police spokesperson George Kinoti has however termed as ‘sensational’, adding that the figures were exaggerated to taint the image of the National Police Service (NPS).According to Boinnet, only 19 people have lost their lives. 11 died during the August poll while eight others passed on in the October repeat poll.“We therefore urge IMLU to be fair, just and impartial in their reports. In this respect, we reiterate that we were never consulted prior to the publication of this malicious, sensational and misleading report,” Boinnet said.
