Renowned city lawyer Nelson Havi has once again called upon the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the National Police Service to hurry up and bring to book the suspect involved in Meru University student leader Evans Njoroge's death.

In a tweet Thursday, Havi who also attended the slain leader's farewell ceremony in Longonot area within Nakuru county said that the involved bodies must conclude their investigations and take the suspect to court within the next seven days.

The vocal lawyer, who reiterated his earlier claim that the culprit is a Meru police officer namely Kiptanui, did not, however, reveal his retaliatory step should the ultimatum lapse.

He maintained that the suspect must face murder charges upon apprehension.

''We have condoled with the family and friends of Evans Njoroge, condemned and cursed his killer, GSU policeman Kiptanui stationed in Meru. @JBoinnet, @PoliceKE, @IPOA_KE and @ODPP_KE please, charge this rogue officer with murder. You have seven days to take action,'' he wrote.

An autopsy on his body revealed that Njoroge died of a gun wound, a shot fired at a very close range.

The test was conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor in the presence of Njoroge's family doctor Moses Njue.

Havi has since offered to represent Njoroge's family in court for free.
