Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has ordered a countrywide crackdown on unroadworthy vehicles starting Monday.
Boinnet revealed that the operation will be successful since multiple roadblocks will be laid at various spots.
However, it will run for a long period until the roads are 'declared safe' from accidents caused by careless driving.
He also called on the traffic police not to take any bribes as those who are traffic offenders will be charged in court.
Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Joel Kitili said all vehicles will be subjected to the crack down including those of Cabinet secretaries, Principal Secretaries, parastatal bosses and even county bosses.
Katili said no one is above the law and that government officials who have been misusing power and overlap carelessly on the roads will also be fined.
