The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has ordered for an immediate investigations into an alleged assault of an activist and a journalist.
The two are said to have been covering a story on police brutality in Usenge, Siaya County when they were arrested and brutalised by the police, Wednesday evening.
Activist Rodgers Ochieng' and a reporter with the Standard Newspaper Isaiah Gwengi were later released after being beaten up, prompting them to file complaint to relevant offices.
Boinnet directed the Siaya County police commander to take up the matter, investigate and ensure responsible officers are brought to book.
He condemned the incident, saying the National Police Service does not condone brutality on citizens.
The Media Cuncil of Kenya (MCK) through chairman Charles Kerich, has since condemned the incident and orederd for quick legal action.
