Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has addressed reports that the government intends to deploy more officers to Nyanza region ahead of October 26 polls.

Boinnet has discredited the claims stating that there is no such plan to send GSU officers in the opposition stronghold.

This is after Social Media claimed that there was a plan to deploy more officers to ‘deal’ with NASA supporters.

The users were referring to a video showing several trucks with officers clad in anti-riot regalia on a highway heading to an unknown location. Users who posted the video claimed that the trucks were heading to Western and Nyanza provinces.

"These are dangerous lies aimed at causing disaffection and ill will towards the police. We caution social media users or any other person to desist from spreading falsehoods and unsubstantiated information," he warned through spokesperson George Kinoti.
