Kiambu ‘s Mutharabaini Member of County Assembly (MCA) Lawrence Mwaura wants the new Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to spearhead security across the country.
Speaking when he met area youths, MCA Mwaura said that the new IG has a huge responsibility of protecting Kenyans and their property.
He stated that rise in crime in most parts of the country is worrying and that the IG must hit the ground running.
“The country has been experiencing security threats for long, now that we have the new IG, he must quickly restore order,” said MCA Mwaura.
He said that the government has a responsibility to protect Kenyans and that all its agencies must work together to ensure that all Kenyans are safe.
He also urged the IG to spearhead police reforms and crack the whip on police officers who solicit bribes from those who go against Kenyan laws instead of arresting and taking them to courts of law.
“Cases of bribery have also gone up and the new IG must bring them down and restore the image of the country,” said Mwaura.
On the same note, Mwaura urged Kiambu police to intensify patrols and deal with criminal elements causing problems in the Ward.
He observed that development will not be achieved if security of Kenyans, investors and businessmen is not assured.
