The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has raised concerns that people have already started vandalising the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
Boinnet warned that the project that aims to connect Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan from Mombasa was barely complete yet some Kenyans had started pulling some important equipment from the line.
He warned that such vandals will not be spared if caught.
Boinnet was speaking during press briefing on road safety programmes and enforcement measures that should be effected this festive season, Tuesday.
The Mombasa-Nairobi SGR is the biggest infrastructure project in Kenya since independence.
It aims to shorten the passenger travel time from Mombasa to Nairobi from more than ten hours to a little more than four hours.
