The inspector general of police, Joseph Boinnet has called on the public to report any form of corruption witnessed during the police recruitment exercise.
Boinnet said no person should be asked to bribe their way into the police unit during the recruitment.
The police recruitment which began on Monday will foresee 10,000 police recruited who will further go through training to boost the security of the country as said by the president.
Boinnet called on the public to report any form of corruption using the police numbers given as 999, 112 and 911.
‘‘Those who will be asked to bribe an officer so that they can secure their positions during the recruitment exercise should report to us by calling numbers 999,112 and 911. It is high time we stop corruption in recruitment because if we don’t, we will produce police officers that are not ripe for the jobs,’’ said Boinnet.
President Uhuru Kenyatta during the pass out parade early this year directed that 10,000 police officers be recruited. This came after the high court nullified the recruitment of the earlier recruits and ordered that new recruitment should take place conducted by National Police Service Commission.
