Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet has warned politicians against incitement ahead of the 2017 general election.
Speaking on Thursday in Nakuru, Boinnet stated that his office was prepared to deal with politicians who will incite voters during the polls.
“We at the National Police Service shall not tolerate any kind of behaviour that breaches the law that relates to public order or any electoral law. We will enforce the law as it is without fear or favour and I urge every officer to stand firm to ensure there is law and order during the forthcoming elections,” said Boinnet.
He further assured the country that security will be given top priority through deployment of adequate personnels.
“Our cardinal responsibility is to ensure that there is peace and tranquillity before, during and after the elections,” he added.
