Uasin Gishu Alcoholic Drinks Control Board director Silas Boit has revealed where illegal alcohol is sold in the county.
He said businessmen to conduct the illegal business at the outskirts of Eldoret town putting the lives of the residents in danger.
“We have found out that areas such as Roadblock, Maili Nne, Miti Moja, Turbo are notorious for the sale and consumption of illegal alcohol. We will work round the clock to ensure that those involved are arrested and charged. We cannot just stay mum while the future of our children is destroyed,” he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.
“I want to urge residents to act as our watchdog by reporting anyone involved in the sale and consumption of illegal liquor since for this mess to end, we need concerted efforts between the county government and residents,” he added.
He, however, said they will conduct seminars in colleges and universities to sensitize the youths on the dangers of using alcohol.
“We decided to start conducting these seminars since we found out that youths are the ones most targeted by these illegal businessmen and with them having knowledge on the dangers they will not fall into their trap,” noted Boit.
