A section of Bomachoge Chache Sub-county pupils have been given shoes courtesy of area born son, who resides at the US, Nyangenya Omanga, in conjunction with the Red Cross.
Speaking on Friday in a telephone interview, Omanga said they are targeting all primary school pupils in the constituency.
“Three schools have already benefited, and we pledge to continue with the exercise when schools open for second term,” said Omanga.
Among the schools that benefited from the initiative on Thursday this week, are Nyamiobo, Nyakoiba and Getare primary schools where each pupil got a pair of shoes.
"We have given shoes to three schools and we are slated to disperse more shoes when schools open," said Omanga.
Omanga said he developed the idea to give back to the society by supporting school going children with the shoes to enable them to be comfortable while enrolling for education.
He challenged other elites from the area to support students in their academic endeavours.
"I ask successful individuals from our area to come out and support the children morally, financially and materially in their academic endeavours. The shoes will enable the pupils to attend school and avoid foot diseases that affect them," added Omanga.
