Speaking to this writer after the colourful event, Moindi said the talent search competition will be held monthly at the ward, and will involve sporting, art and musical related talents in which winners will be sponsored by the MCA.

He said it will also be an opportunity to help the youths to engage in productive activities rather than lying idle even during working hours.

“I thought of coming up with the best way of helping our youths and I settled on a talent search completion. It will be held monthly and we will have those excelling from sporting to musical careers supported to greater heights,” he said.

“We want to make the best out of our youthful population and I want to encourage them to come and showcase their talents. This is also another way of discouraging idling,” he added.

According to Moindi, the event will cost him about Sh500,00 monthly, and most of the funding will come from Ouru Superstores enterprise in Kisii town, who confirmed sponsorship.

“I wish to thank the Ouru brothers for their kindness. It won’t have been easy for me to get the approximated 0.5million shillings, but they have already confirmed that they will be helping me hold the event,” he said.

However, many residents have associated Moindi’s move as a way of preparing to run for the parliamentary seat in Bonchari, something that he dismissed as ‘premature and impossible’.
