There was panic in Nairobi Wednesday morning after an object thought to be a bomb was found at the Technical Institute of Kenya gate.

The object was discovered by police just before the institution's main entrance along Moktar Daddah Street.

Police then sealed off the area and began investigations that later established the object as not being a bomb.

The scene has since been cleared and people can access the street.

Police in Nairobi have been on high alert after intelligence warnings of sporadic attacks by Al-Shabaab.
